Fusion of Ear and Soft-biometrics for Recognition of Newborn
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recognition of newborn after birth is a critical issue for hospitals, maternity word and other places where multiple birthstake place. Switching and abduction of newborn is a global challenge and research done to meet this challenge is minimal. Most of the biometric systems developed are for adults and very few of them address the issue of newborn identification. The ear of newborn is a perfect source of data for passive identification of newborn as they are the highly non cooperative users of biometrics. The four important characteristics of ear biometrics: universality, uniqueness, permanence and collectability make it a very potential biometric trait for the identification of newborn. Further the use of soft-biometric data like gender, blood group, height and weight along with ear enhances the accuracy for identification of newborn. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the concept of fusing earand soft-biometrics for recognition of newborn. The main contributions of the research are (a) Design and implementation for fusion of ear and soft biometric for recognition of 210 newborn. (b)Preparation of ear and soft-biometric database of newborn. Fusion of ear and soft-biometrics results in an improvement of approximately 5.59% over the primary biometric system i.e. ear.

Integrating Faces and Soft-biometrics for Newborn Recognition
The problem of mixing, swapping and abduction is a very serious and challenging issue throughout the world. Traditional methods of biometric and non biometric techniques have their own limitations and fail to provide required level of security for newborn. A multimodal biometric system integrates information from multiple biometric sources to compensate for the limitations in performance of eac...
متن کاملA Multi-Biometrics for Twins Identification Based Speech and Ear
The development of technology biometrics becomes crucial more. To define human characteristic biometric systems are used but because of inability of traditional biometric systems to recognize twins, multimodal biometric systems are developed. In this study a multimodal biometric recognition system is proposed to recognize twins from each other and from the other people by using image and speech...
متن کاملMulti-biometrics 2D and 3D Ear Recognition
Multi-biometric 2D and 3D ear recognition are explored. The data set used represents over 300 persons, each with images acquired on at least two different dates. Among them, 169 persons have images taken on at least four different dates. Based on the results of three algorithms applied on 2D and 3D ear data, various multi-biometric combinations were considered, and all result in improvement ove...
متن کاملRobust Multi biometric Recognition Using Face and Ear Images
This study investigates the use of ear as a biometric for authentication and shows experimental results obtained on a newly created dataset of 420 images. Images are passed to a quality module in order to reduce False Rejection Rate. The Principal Component Analysis (“eigen ear”) approach was used, obtaining 90.7 % recognition rate. Improvement in recognition results is obtained when ear biomet...
متن کاملUsing Ears for Human Identification
Biometrics includes the study of automatic methods for distinguishing human beings based on physical or behavioral traits. The problem of finding good biometric features and recognition methods has been researched extensively in recent years. Our research considers the use of ears as a biometric for human recognition. Researchers have not considered this biometric as much as others, which inclu...
